NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a teen multiple times while trying to steal his backpack in the lobby of a Manhattan apartment building.
The violent robbery occurred on Aug. 17 in the lobby of 86 Fort Washingotn Avenue in Washington Heights around 7:30 p.m., authorities said.
An 18-year-old was walking inside of the building when the attacker came from the staircase and took a knife out while demanding the victim's property.
The suspect then stabbed the teen six times during a scuffle for his backpack, eventually getting a hold of it and fleeing the scene, according to cops.

The victim was taken by private means to New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in stable condition. His stolen backpack had his keys and wallet inside.
