NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD is searching for a teen suspect after a 17-year-old boy was shot and wounded near a school in Brooklyn on Thursday morning.

Police released video Friday of the male sought in connection with the 8:25 a.m. shooting at Park Avenue and North Oxford Street in Fort Greene.

The victim, who is a student at a nearby school, was shot once in the abdomen by the gunman, who fled eastbound on Flushing Avenue, police said.

EMS transported the teen to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical but stable condition.

The shooter is believed to be another 17-year-old, according to the NYPD.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Department of Education said: "While this incident took place off campus, this display of gun violence is deeply concerning. We are grateful to our dedicated school staff and NYPD School Safety Agents who supported this young person in need after they sought help at the school. Additional supports are being directed to the school, including school social workers, as well as support for the school community via Project Pivot.”
