NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Brooklyn bodega manager is devastated that his 5-month-old bodega cat Snow was snatched from outside his store this week.
Ali Alesai said Snow—a fluffy white Persian kitten, and the newest bodega cat on the block—was taken in front of the Prince Deli and Juice Bar at 1510 Cortelyou Rd. in Flatbush on Wednesday night.
Surveillance video captured the moment a man and woman picked up Snow and walked away with him.
“I didn’t sleep,” Alesai said Thursday. “They just took him from here and take it with them.”
Frequent customers know the cat well, saying the feline plays with children and rolls around on the ground outside the bodega. They want him brought home immediately.
“Everybody knows that the cat is the manager of the bodega,” one man said. “That’s the bodega cat. It’s been there. Like I don’t know why they’d steal it.”
Alesai reported the incident to the NYPD. He and his kids are now posting flyers all over the neighborhood, hoping somebody notices Snow and contacts police.
Alesai said his family has a vacation coming up, but they won’t be able to celebrate knowing Snow is missing.
“He’s not a cat to be honest, he’s a member—family,” Alesai said.
