NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police said they're searching for a woman who forced a subway rider to the ground by her hair multiple times before robbing her of credit cards and cash.

The victim, a 61-year-old woman, was sitting and waiting for an R train at the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street station on the Upper East Side just before 9 p.m. Monday when she was targeted by the suspect, police said.

The suspect spoke briefly with the victim before pulling her to the ground by her hair, according to police.

The victim tried to escape the station when the woman forced her to the ground by her hair again, police said.

The suspect then stole the woman's pull cart, which had credit cards, cash and her New York ID card in it, according to police.

The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

Police released a surveillance image of the suspect Thursday. They believe she's in her mid-20s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
