NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 61-year-old tourist was critically hurt following an accident involving a pedicab in Manhattan over the weekend, according to officials.
Police said the woman, visiting from California, stood up while riding in the pedicab near 47th Street and Eighth Avenue in Midtown on Sunday night, then lost her balance and fell onto the pavement, hitting her head on the ground.
The woman was apparently attempting to take a picture when the incident occurred, authorities said.
The 33-year-old pedicab driver remained at the scene and was not charged in the incident, the NYPD said.
