NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Upper East Side Trader Joe's shoppers can finally rejoice — the popular supermarket chain will reportedly open this fall, according to Patch.
"While we don't have an opening date just yet, we expect the store to open sometime this fall," spokesperson Rachel Broderick told the outlet.
Trader Joe's currently has nine locations in Manhattan, but with no sites on the Upper East Side.
The update comes more than a year after rumors swirled that the California-based chain would open under the Queensboro Bridge, since the East 59th Street and First Avenue Food Emporium closed in 2015.
Michael's was next in line to take over the space, which the Emporium had for nearly 20 years, but that plan reportedly fell through.
City Councilmember Ben Kallos told the outlet he looked for another tenant, including Whole Foods and Fairway, but Trader Joe's emerged as a "favorite."
The low-cost and specialty grocery chain is reportedly committing to the space through June 2026 and has the option to renew until 2036, Patch reports.
Their most recent expansion in New York came with a new Long Island City, Queens site in June.
