
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Thursday released photos of three men wanted in a string of robberies near NYU where they ask the victims for donations before taking their money.
The first incident happened just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, when the trio approached a 14-year-old boy in front of 749 Broadway in NoHo and asked for donations, cops said.
The suspect then threatened the teen and used his phone to send a money transfer of $350 via a mobile payment application before fleeing on foot, in an unknown direction.
Just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, a 19-year-old man was in the vicinity of East 4th Street and Broadway when he was approached by the men who asked him to exchange money.
The suspects went with the victim to an ATM, where he withdrew $1,400 which they then took before they fled the location on foot, traveling southbound on Broadway.
A third incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, when two of the suspects approached a 23-year-old man in front of 20 Astor Place and asked for donations.
According to officials, the suspects threatened the victim and had him withdraw $800 from an ATM and used his phone to send a money transfer of $1,000 via a mobile payment application. The suspects took the money and fled the location on foot, traveling westbound on Waverly Place.
There were no injuries reported in any of the incidents.
