Trio pistol-whips, mugs jogger in Central Park

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A jogger was pistol-whipped and mugged by three robbers in southern Central Park on Friday morning, police said.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, was robbed at gunpoint just before 6:15 a.m. as the trio ambushed him in the area of East Drive and East 59th Street, according to police.

The thieves struck him in the face with a firearm and stole his phone, police said.

They then fled northbound on bikes along the bike path towards the Lake, according to cops.

The suspects are believed to be in their 30s. They were all wearing black masks, police said.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
