NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A truck driver plowed into pedestrians at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge in Chinatown on Thursday, leaving a man dead and two women injured, police said.
The truck—a flatbed stacked high with wooden delivery pallets—was coming off the bridge when it slammed into the three victims around 10:20 a.m.at Canal Street and Bowery.
A 77-year-old man was killed, police said. The two women were hospitalized in stable condition.

After hitting the pedestrians, the truck driver continued down Bowery and struck a sedan at Hester Street before coming to a stop, according to police.
The truck driver, a 66-year-old man, remained at the scene and was taken into custody. The truck’s front windshield was shattered and all four tires were flattened.
People in the area said the exit from the bridge is extremely dangerous. In July 2025, a cyclist and a pedestrian were killed when a driver in a stolen car plowed into them coming off the bridge, police said.
State Sen. Stephen Chan, who was in the area Thursday, said this is far from the first crash at the bridge. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this,” he said.
Andrew Wyatt, who has an art studio in the area, said drivers coming off the bridge “go way too fast.”
