Republican Inna Vernikov is facing off against Democrat Steven Saperstein in the council’s 48th District, and Trump Jr. taped a robocall backing the supporter of the former president and his family.

“It is critical that we elect Inna Vernikov to the New York City Council because Inna stands for fully funding the police, jobs, and a strong economy and putting our country first,” Trump Jr. said in the call.

The victor will take the seat once occupied by Chaim Deutsch, who was removed from his seat after pleading guilty to tax fraud in April.

The district includes Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay, Homecrest and Midwood.

Vernikov, 37, is an attorney who was once a Democrat, while Saperstein ran for state Assembly as a Republican in 2018.

Vernikov claimed to Brooklyn Paper that she “became inaccurately convinced that in order to have an impact in the primary elections, I need to be a registered Democrat.” but said unrest from the death of George Floyd convinced her to switch back to the GOP.

Deutsch had won the district with relative ease in past elections, but Trump beat Biden in the area in 2020.

“I am an immigrant from the former Soviet Union and I have only love for this country and our beautiful city. My family came here with nothing and my parents had to work multiple jobs to make a living,” Vernikov told Brooklyn Paper.

The Republican told the outlet she is against vaccine mandates and wants to “refund” the police.
