NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A "samurai sword" was found inside a woman's carry-on bag while traveling out of LaGuardia Airport on Monday, authorities said.
The sword was discovered after the woman, who has not been identified, put her bags to be screened at a security checkpoint, according to a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson.
A TSA officer saw what appeared to be some sort of sword inside of the bag when it was being screened.
The bag was then pulled for further inspection and the samurai sword was discovered inside, TSA said.
Port Authority Police were notified immediately and the weapon was confiscated by police.
The woman was issued a summons for a court appearance set for later this year.
