NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are investigating a double homicide after discovering two men fatally stabbed outside a retail strip in the Bronx early Sunday morning.
A 27-year-old man was knifed in the chest and a 24-year-old in the abdomen on the street in front of 1215 Stratford Ave. in the Soundview section of the Bronx at about 4:50 a.m., police said.
EMS responded and took both victims to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where they were pronounced dead. Their identities were not immediately released.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
The murders happened directly across the street from where 46-year-old Jesus Garcia-Desiderio was brutally beaten in February. He succumbed to his injuries after three days in critical condition.
Months later, in June, the NYPD arrested 23-year-old Alejandro Gonzalez for the crime, charging him with first-degree manslaughter, multiple counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Gonzalez has been remanded without bail since pleading not guilty at his arraignment on June 12, and court records show that his next appearance is Nov. 12.
