NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A rideshare driver was in critical condition Friday after he was shot in the head inside his vehicle in Prospect Heights on Thursday night, according to police and sources.

The 52-year-old driver was shot in his Mercedes-Benz around 10 p.m. in front of 320 Lincoln Place, about a block from Prospect Park.

He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

The victim's SUV is a for-hire vehicle, sources told 1010 WINS. While sources said he worked for Uber, the company said the incident does not appear to be connected to their platform.

Witnesses saw two potential suspects exiting the SUV and running from the scene just after the shooting, police said. They remained at large Friday.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
