NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are investigating after a 94-year-old woman was struck and pinned by a United States Postal Service van while attempting to cross a Queens street Sunday evening.
It happened at around 5:30 p.m. when the van turned off on the crosswalk of 48th Street and Broadway and struck the woman.
According to officials, the van drove completely over the woman before it came to an abrupt stop with the victim trapped under it.
The woman was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical but stable condition, the NYPD said.
The USPS worker remained at the scene and has not been charged, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
