NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced that commemorative MetroCards featuring rock band Vampire Weekend will be released on Monday in support of the band's new album Only God Was Above Us.

There will be 60,000 MetroCards available at MetroCard vending machines at the 14th Street - Union Square and Grand Central - 42nd Street stations, according to the MTA.
Two of the cards feature photographs by Steven Siegel, whose 1980s photographs inspired the album.

Since the inception of MetroCards in 1994, there have been 400 different limited-edition cards produced including Supreme, Notorious B.I.G, Law and Order and Ice Spice.
Last week the MTA announced it would offer advertisers the last opportunity to create one of the final two “premium” custom MetroCards available to customers.
