Transit van driver charged after fatally striking construction worker in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Officials charged a transit van driver accused of fatally striking a construction worker in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon.

Clyde Mercury, 36, was charged with criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and failure to exercise due care.

According to police, just before 2 p.m., a Ford Transit traveling westbound on Myrtle Avenue between Walworth and Sandford streets in Bedford-Stuyvesant struck the 37-year-old victim.

Mercury is set to be arraigned in a Brooklyn court on Wednesday.
