NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A good Samaritan confronted a vandal who damaged and urinated on a sukkah on the Upper East Side ahead of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, officials said.
Video shows the man kicking in part of the sukkah outside the Chabad Israel Center at Second Avenue and E. 92nd Street around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Officials said he also urinated on it.
Sukkahs are temporary shelters that Jews eat in during the weeklong festival of Sukkot, which began Sunday evening.

Chabad Israel Center builds a sukkah on the Upper East Side each year.
Photos released by the center show the damage done to the sukkah.

Rabbi Uriel Vigler, who co-directs Chabad Israel Center, said a New Yorker who has yet to be identified intervened to stop the vandalism.
Video appears to show the good Samaritan confronting the vandal.

"We have been in touch with the authorities who are investigating this incident, though we're not perturbed," Vigler said. "We are grateful to the brave New Yorker, who demonstrated what New York is all about, standing up to look after one another."
No arrests have been reported in the incident.
