VIDEO: Legal or not, man on one-wheeled scooter whizzes along FDR Drive
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- One man brought 'taking the wheel' to a new level this week.
Footage posted to the New York Post via Newsflare earlier this week shows a guy taking a one-wheeled vehicle over the Willis Avenue Bridge on the FDR Drive, and keeping pretty good pace with traffic!
Boasting just a T-shirt, shorts, shoes, a helmet and some padding, the risky ride has the man standing in a near fully upright position in order to get him wherever he's going.
And he was clearly used to getting some funny looks — the person behind the video was caught in the act, getting a wave and a salute from the one-wheeled driver.
But while some might think the stunt is cool, top city brass think otherwise. A DOT spokesperson told the New York Post that using one-wheel vehicles on the highway isn't permitted.
