VIDEO: Thieves smash Park Avenue storefront to steal nearly $250K in Hermes handbags

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A trio of smash-and-grab thieves ripped a display box out of a Park Avenue storefront to steal nearly $250,000 in luxury Hermès handbags, video released Wednesday shows.

The overnight burglary unfolded outside Heritage Auctions at 445 Park Ave. in Midtown on March 7.

Video shows them pulling up to the auction house around 3:50 a.m. Two act as lookouts as the third uses a hammer to smash a front window.

The frenzied hammering caused the display box to fall out of the storefront and shatter on the sidewalk, video shows.

The thieves managed to scoop up eight Hermès handbags worth $242,000, according to police.

The suspects were last seen fleeing eastbound on E. 56th Street in a white Acura sedan.
