NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Chuck Schumer had his dancing shoes ready.

The Senate majority leader was filmed cutting a rug backstage at the We Love NYC concert with late-night host Stephen Colbert Saturday before Tropical Storm Henri led to the Central Park event’s cancellation.

“Backstage antics,” tweeted Bill Neidhardt, Mayor Bill de Blasio’s spokesman, along with the video, shortly before rainfall would cut the concert short in the middle of a Barry Manilow set.

In the face of hurricane-level storms, de Blasio decided to continue with the concert — organized to celebrate New York's perseverance through the coronavirus pandemic — in hopes that it would conclude before rain hit Manhattan.

The mayor was forced to call off the show and was photographed addressing crowds in a poncho with a stern weather advisory on a digital screen behind him.

“The evening may have ended early, but that feeling of #NYC coming back stronger than ever before will stay with us all year long,” de Blasio tweeted Sunday. “Thank you to everyone who came out to last night’s We ❤️ New York Concert in Central Park!”

Henri decreased in intensity and moved away from its path toward Long Island, making landfall in Rhode Island before working its way toward Connecticut.

De Blasio has urged New Yorkers to stay home Sunday as the storm makes its way through the region, with the threat of heavy rains, power outages and flooding in parts of the city.
