'TRY ME': Laptop thief threatens worker with knife at Flatiron Best Buy

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A thief threatened an employee with a knife as he stole laptops from a Best Buy in the Flatiron District, daring the worker to “try me” as he fled the store.

The NYPD released surveillance video Friday of the April 23 altercation inside the Best Buy at West 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue.

Police said the crook walked into the store 10 minutes before closing time around 7:50 p.m. and grabbed two Apple MacBooks from a display table.

When the 22-year-old employee confronted him, he whipped out a knife and threatened, “Try me.”

The worker stepped aside, and the crook fled the location on foot with the pricey computers.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.

The suspect was last seen heading southbound on Sixth Avenue. Police believe he's about 40 years old.
