NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 23-year-old woman was killed in a car crash on Staten Island that tore the car she was in in half early Saturday morning, according to police.

The woman was a passenger in a white Dodge sedan when the driver, a 30-year-old man, lost control and slammed into a barrier and then a utility pole around 4:45 a.m. on Hylan Boulevard near New Dorp Lane, officials said.

The woman was fatally thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene, but the driver only suffered minor injuries.

Police arrested the driver, and charges against him are pending.
