NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 29-year-old woman has been arrested nearly three weeks after she allegedly pushed a subway rider onto tracks in the Bronx.
Luz Sanchez, of Manhattan, faces charges of attempted murder, attempted manslaughter and attempted reckless endangerment after she was arrested Thursday afternoon in lower Manhattan.
Police believe Sanchez is the attacker who pushed a 54-year-old woman onto the tracks at the 174th Street 2/5 line station in Crotona Park East on the morning of Feb. 9.
Police said the 54-year-old victim was on a platform around 7:50 a.m. when another woman came up and pushed her onto the track roadbed.
The victim suffered cuts and bruising to her hands and pain to her body but was able to pull herself off the tracks with the help of a man. She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
The NYPD released surveillance video earlier this month as they searched for the subway shover. The incident was among a string of attacks on riders and transit workers in the subway and on buses in recent weeks.
