Woman, 68, fatally struck by MTA bus turning on Bronx street: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating a fatal collision that occurred as an MTA bus was making a turn on a Bronx street on Tuesday night, officials said.

Police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at Johnson Avenue and Kappock Street in the Spuyten Duyvil neighborhood at 8:30 p.m. on September 7, according to authorities.

Preliminary investigation determined that an MTA bus traveling south on Kappock Street and turning left onto Johnson Avenue struck a 68-year-old Ruth Mullen who was crossing the street in an unknown direction, police said.

Mullen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the MTA bus remained at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
