NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An 81-year-old woman was struck by a box truck after she tripped and fell on a Manhattan crosswalk on Monday morning, authorities said.
It happened at approximately 10 a.m. as the woman was crossing 59th Street and Second Avenue in Sutton Place. The woman was hit by a white box truck traveling east on 59th, officials said.
She was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
The vehicle did not remain on the scene. It is unclear if the driver knew it had struck someone.
An investigation is ongoing.
