NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A tow truck struck and killed an 85-year-old woman near Union Square in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The NYPD identified the victim as Antoinette Turrigiano of Queens.
Police said Turrigiano was crossing 17th Street at Broadway when she was struck by a Peterbilt tow truck shortly before 1:55 p.m.
Turrigiano was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The driver of the tow truck remained at the scene, police said.
The New York Post reported that the victim was crossing the street mid-block when she was hit.
No arrests have been reported as the NYPD continues to investigate.
