Woman, 85, stabbed to death at her Brooklyn home; family member in custody

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 85-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in her Brooklyn home on Tuesday night, and a family member has been taken into custody, sources told 1010 WINS.

The victim—identified by police as Julia Boomer—was stabbed multiple times at her home on Throop Avenue, near Decatur Street, in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

NYPD officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 10 p.m.

EMS rushed Boomer to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where she ultimately died from her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, but police believe the stabbing was a domestic violence incident.

A family member is in custody, sources said. No charges were immediately announced.
