88-year-old woman hospitalized after man robs her in midtown Manhattan: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 88-year-old woman was hospitalized after a man pushed her to the ground and stole her wallet and phone in midtown Manhattan on Sunday, the NYPD said.

The woman was in front of a building on West 57th Street, near 6th Avenue, around 12:50 p.m. when the man walked up behind her, pushed her to the ground and stole her wallet, which contained her ID card, credit cards and cash, police said.

The man also stole the woman's iPhone, the NYPD said. He fled east on West 57th Street after the attack.

The woman, whose leg and face were injured, was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Police are now searching for her alleged attacker, an approximately 5-foot-7, 150-pound man in his 30s who was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray sweatpants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
