Woman, 89, sucker punched in random West Village attack

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — An 89-year-old woman was sucker punched in a random attack in the West Village.

The woman was punched while walking to the gym, officials said.

She suffered a bruised and bloodshot left eye and temporarily lost sight in that eye.

No words were exchanged and the attacker fled near Greenwich Avenue and West 11th Street.

She was taken to a hospital across the street from where the attack happened.

There have been no arrests made and an investigation remains ongoing.
