Bronx woman arrested for fatally stabbing boyfriend claims it was self-defense

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a woman who claims she fatally stabbed her live-in boyfriend in self defense in the Bronx on Sunday.

Officials said 35-year-old Rider Ferreras was stabbed in the chest around 7 a.m., inside an apartment at the Fordham Manor building before being dragged onto the street.


EMS took Ferreras to nearby St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to the Daily News, a woman whose hands are covered in blood, identifies herself as the victim's girlfriend before she pulls a large knife out of her waistband and tells officers she was acting in self defense.

The woman, was later identified as 39-year-old Marianela Valdez-De Gonzalez.

She was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
