NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman attending an outdoor vigil for a homicide victim was killed in a drive-by shooting in Brooklyn late Monday night, officials said.
Just just after 11 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a person shot in front of 1769 Park Place in the Weeksville neighborhood.
Upon arrival, responding officers discovered 32-year-old Shalimar Birkett lying in the street after being shot in the head, police said.
Birkett was attending the vigil for another shooting victim when a gunman in a white sedan fired shots, according to the NYPD.
She was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The vehicle fled the scene and so far, no arrests have been made.
An investigation remains ongoing.
