NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police on Friday released surveillance footage of a man accused of conning an 87-year-old woman out of nearly $17,000 in a DUI scam in Manhattan last month.

At approximately 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, the victim received a call from an unknown person posing as an attorney informing her that her grandson was arrested for DUI and needed $16,900 to secure his bail.


The suspect met the victim in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue and East 11th Street in the West Village, where he took the $16,900 from the victim, police said.

The suspect then fled the location, going southbound on Fifth Avenue on foot to parts unknown.

No injuries were reported during this incident.

The suspect was last seen wearing a green baseball hat, white t-shirt, black jeans, and white or black sneakers.
