NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A speeding driver in a BMW struck and killed a 31-year-old woman as she was crossing a Brooklyn street overnight, authorities said.
It happened just before 10 p.m. as the victim was crossing mid-block on Atlantic Avenue near Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights.
According to officials, the 27-year-old driver in a black BMW sedan hit the woman as she was crossing before crashing into a vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not immediately release her name.
Officials took the BMW driver into custody. Charges against him were not immediately filed.
The driver of the vehicle he struck was not injured.
An investigation is ongoing.
