NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 23-year-old woman died, and an infant remains in critical condition following a 15-floor fall from a Bronx building early Tuesday morning.
Police are searching for the woman's ex-boyfriend, sources told 1010 WINS. It happened around 3:30 a.m. at an 18-story residential building located on Olinville Avenue in Allerton.
A witness recalled hearing harrowing moments leading up to the tragedy. "I don't know if she was holding that baby, but I heard her yelling and screaming, 'Please don't do this, my baby, you know, my baby is scared, look at her face,' and that's when the next thing you know I hear her scream and I see something hit the ground," she told 1010 WINS.
They were both rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where the woman later succumbed to her injuries and the infant remains in critical condition.
A growing memorial of candles and flowers has formed at the entrance of the complex as the investigation continues.
