Woman, 31, fatally struck by NYC Transportation Department dump truck in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 31-year-old woman was struck and killed by a New York City Department of Transportation dump truck while walking in Queens on Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

A 2017 dump truck was traveling eastbound on Metropolitan Avenue in Kew Gardens just before 9 a.m. In an attempt to turn right onto southbound Lefferts Boulevard, the 48-year-old male driver struck the pedestrian, police said.

Nilufar Komilova suffered severe head and torso injuries, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

The driver remained at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
