MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A woman is in custody in the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old man on Long Island early Monday morning following a massive manhunt.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Nassau County police officers responded to a 911 call regarding a violent incident on Beaumont Avenue in Massapequa. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a 28-year-old male victim suffering from critical stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead.
An intense manhunt through the residential area followed, with police deploying K-9 units and helicopters going from yard-to-yard to track down the woman who fled the scene on foot.
"Oh my God, helicopters, searchlights all over the place," one resident said. "They were going in yard to yard until they found her."
The woman was eventually located by officers and taken into police custody.
A motive for the killing remains unclear, and Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives have not yet disclosed the identities of the victim or the suspect. It is also unknown how the man and woman knew each other.
An investigation remains ongoing.
