NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman was killed, and several others were injured, when an ambulance transporting her overturned after it was struck by a vehicle on Staten Island Friday morning, authorities said.
According to officials, the ambulance had just picked up a 35-year-old woman who had been struck by a car while attempting to cross the street and was heading to Richmond University Medical Center for treatment.
A Jeep then crashed into the ambulance at the intersection of Jewett Avenue and Main Avenue in Westerleigh, causing it to overturn onto its side.

The woman initially being transported to the hospital was later pronounced dead, officials said.

Four other people including the emergency workers and the Jeep driver were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing.
