NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman lying on a Brooklyn street was struck and killed Wednesday evening by the driver of an unmarked police van, sources said.

The woman was run over at 570 Pennsylvania Ave. in East New York around 6:10 p.m., according to police.


She suffered head injuries and was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. She hasn't yet been identified.

According to sources, the woman was lying on the roadway when the driver of a black Toyota Sienna—an unmarked minivan for the warrant squad—ran over her while heading northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The woman, who is believed to be homeless, may have suffered some sort of medical episode prior to the crash, according to reports.

The driver and passengers of the vehicle remained at the scene.

No criminality is suspected at this time, police said as the investigation continues.
