
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A woman was punched in the face in a suspected anti-Asian attack on a subway train in Midtown Manhattan, police said Friday as they released video of a suspect.
The 28-year-old victim was riding a northbound Q train near the 57th Street–Seventh Avenue station around 8:10 p.m. last Wednesday when another woman, believed to be in her 30s, picked a fight with her, according to cops.
During the exchange, the mystery woman made anti-Asian remarks and punched the victim in the face with a closed fist, police said. She then fled the train.
The victim declined further medical attention at the scene.
The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault.
