Woman riding in Tesla killed in crash just outside JFK Airport

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman riding in a Tesla died after a crash outside of John F. Kennedy international airport on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Just before 2 p.m. police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard in Brookville, officials said.

Further investigation by the NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 52-year-old man was operating a black 2023 Tesla Model Y SUV eastbound on Rockaway Boulevard when he struck the rear of a gray 2010 Ford Fusion in the right lane near the intersection of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.

The Tesla continued into the intersection and struck a stationary White 2002 International Utility Body Truck in the westbound lane of Rockaway Boulevard.

EMS transported the 54-year-old front passenger of the Tesla to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

EMS took the 52-year-old Tesla driver to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.

The drivers of the Ford and the box truck remained on scene and were not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
