Woman stabbed in back unprovoked near Central Park, suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A woman was stabbed in the back last week in a random attack as she walked in Manhattan, and police released photos of the suspect on Thursday to help their investigation.

At about 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, a 55-year-old woman was approached by a stranger near Saint Nicholas Avenue and West 111 Street in Harlem, one block outside of Central Park.

The man stabbed her in the lower back area with an unknown sharp object, and then fled the location in an unknown direction.

EMS transported the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in stable condition.

Police are searching for the culprit, who is described as having a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black hat, light-colored shirt, blue pants and white and black sneakers.
