Woman stabbed in the back after chokehold in random NYC subway attack

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 19-year-old woman walking down the stairs at a Lower Manhattan subway station was put in a chokehold and randomly stabbed in the back on Friday, police said.

The incident took place around 5 a.m. as the woman was walking down the stairs at the Delancey Street/Essex Street station.


She was attacked from behind by an unidentified individual who took off topside, police said.

She was taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village hospital to be treated for the stab wound and a couple of bruises on her neck, according to police.

Police are still investigating the incident.
