NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman, who police believe was a bystander, was shot in the back and critically injured as she stood outside a bodega in Brooklyn early Wednesday morning.

The 26-year-old victim was outside a bodega at 613 Nostrand Ave. in Crown Heights just after 3:05 a.m. when a group emerged from the store and began shooting.

The group fired multiple shots in the woman’s direction, but it appears they were aiming for someone else, police said.

The woman was shot in both the back and legs. She was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in critical but stable condition.

Investigators don’t believe she was the intended target. No one else was injured in the hail of bullets.

No arrests have been reported as the investigation continues.
