NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are trying to identify a woman whose body was found floating in the water under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge this weekend.
The unidentified woman was discovered near Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island around 9 a.m. Saturday, police told the New York Post. Her body was about 100 yards offshore.
She was pronounced dead by the NYPD's Harbor Unit after being brought ashore.
The woman, who has been deemed a "Jane Doe" pending her identification, had a $20 bill and a necklace on her when she was found, according to the report.
Police believe she was in her 40s or early 50s.
