NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A would-be rapist stalked a woman through the subway and then attacked her at a station in Queens—repeatedly punching her and trying to rip off her clothes—before a security guard was alerted to her screams, police said.

The NYPD released images Thursday of the suspect they're searching for in the attempted rape at the 169th Street station in Jamaica early last Saturday morning.

The 20-year-old victim departed an F train at the station around 12:10 a.m.

Unbeknownst to her, she was being trailed by a man, who followed her to the mezzanine of the station and attacked her.

He punched her in the face multiple times, covered her face and knocked her to the ground, police said.

She fought back and screamed for help as the two struggled, alerting a security guard who ultimately scared off the man, according to cops.

EMS transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. She was said to be in stable condition.

The suspect fled on foot and was last seen headed towards 168th Place, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
