EAST SHOREHAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Long Island homeowner uncovered his pool over the weekend to find a dead man who may be the missing suspect in a murder from last fall.
The homeowner pulled back the pool cover for the summer at his home on Pal Road in East Shoreham on Sunday afternoon to find a “deceased male” inside the pool, according to police.
The grisly discovery has raised new questions in an investigation that stretches back to Nov. 9, 2024.
That’s when police believe Matthew Zoll, 23, fatally stabbed his father, Matthew Zoll, 61, inside their home on Quail Road in Rocky Point.

Zoll left the home in a black GMC Yukon SUV that crashed—about a half-mile from the home where the body was discovered in the pool.
Zoll hasn’t been seen since that crash. Police said at the time that they believed Zoll left the scene with multiple injuries.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina said Tuesday that cops are investigating the "strong possibility" that the body is that of Zoll.
"We don't have a definitive ID on the body, yet," Catalina said. "However, we are investigating the possibility—the strong possibility—that it would be Matthew Zoll."
The Suffolk County medical examiner will work to identify the body and cause of death.
A concerned neighbor said the whole situation is concerning, saying the investigation has turned the neighborhood into a "scene from 'Goodfellas.'"
"I guess he was hiding out in the pool," he speculated of Zoll.
