HILLSDALE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A magnitude 2.7 earthquake hit New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon, days after a 3.0 magnitude tremor rattled the state on Saturday night.

Tuesday’s earthquake hit at 12:11 p.m. and was centered in Hillsdale, Bergen County, at a depth of 7.7 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

People reported feeling it in North Jersey, Westchester and the Bronx.

Saturday’s trembler hit at 10:18 p.m. Saturday in Hasbrouck Heights, Bergen County, at a depth of about 6.2 miles.

The tremors this month were much milder than a 4.8-magnitude quake in 2024 that struck in Tewksbury, New Jersey.

A 3.0 earthquake is typically not strong enough to cause any damage but tremors that mild are somewhat rare in the Northeast.
