GLADSTONE, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A magnitude 2.9 earthquake hit New Jersey on Friday morning—one of the strongest tremors to hit the state since last month's historic magnitude 4.8 quake was felt by millions of people across the region.
Friday's quake hit at 3:50 a.m. about six miles southwest of Gladstone, Somerset County, at a depth of around 4.3 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It's just the latest earthquake to rattle the Garden State in recent weeks after the big one on the morning of April 5. It's also among the strongest, with a number of people reporting to USGS that they felt it in NYC, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
There have been well over 150 aftershocks since April's magnitude 4.8 quake. Most of them have been below a magnitude of 2.0, according to USGS.
No injuries or damage was immediately reported after Friday's tremor.
