Man, 20, charged with DWI after deadly Long Island crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 20-year-old driver was charged with DWI after he allegedly struck and killed a man on Long Island on Friday night, police said.

The 50-year-old pedestrian was struck by a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Cherry Lane in New Hyde Park around 11:45 p.m., according to Nassau County police.

The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:51 a.m., police said.

The Jeep’s driver, Steven Moscatiello, was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and DWI, police said. He was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday.
