Man, 21, charged with sexually assaulting child in NJ

PARAMUS, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Police charged a 21-year-old man with sexually assaulting a child between the ages of 13 and 15 in New Jersey, authorities announced on Thursday.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Tuesday, January 23, officials received a complaint that a child had been sexually abused in Garfield.

Following an investigation, police arrested Erly Campoverde for sexually assaulted the child, who was younger than 16 years old on more than one occasion.

The crimes allegedly occurred on Jan. 1, court records show.

Campoverde was charged with second-degree sexual assault, third-degree endangering and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in court.
